Darryl Bowen & Lydia Clare are a husband & wife songwriting duo from NSW Australia.
Their sound is quite unique, it’s raw, simple and down to earth.
Their music ranges from the catchy and energetic tunes
to the haunting and soul stirring, from the funny to the thought provoking.
Their on and off stage chemistry and charisma is captured within their music,
her sweet sound compliments his bold and earthy tones.
Together they create an authentic sound that embraces their celtic-gypsy roots
into a fusion of Aussie Country, Folk 'n Bluegrass.
It’s difficult to define their style as there are hints of many genres
so they created their own 'Croak Music’ a name fitting to these
hillbilly, hippy, nature loving, mountain folk.
They have released 2 albums to date both produced by well-known
and respected Australian Country music artists.
Their debut album ‘Hillbilly Hippy’ was released in 2011 produced
with Aussie country music legend Bill Chambers.
They chose Bill for his honest and practical approach to recording
as they particularly wanted to remain true to their live sound
most of the 14 original tracks on the album recorded first take.
The title track of the same name won them Mountain Bluegrass song
at the Canberra Country Music awards the same year.
With their follow up album they were interested to explore working with
Rob Mackay who they admired from the successful storytelling duo 'The Bobcatz’
keen to take their music to the next level and see what flavours they could enhance
whilst remaining loyal to their Bowen & Clare feel.
‘Every Bodies Doin’ It’ was released at the Tamworth Country Music festival in January 2015.
Where to their surprise they were announced as finalists in the
Coca Cola Battle of the Bands competition held during the festival.
Title track of the same name was also a finalist in the Songsalive Song Comp in March 2015.
